My research is centered on biodiversity, how it evolves and on the challenges specie's face in the context of global change. Specifically, I am interested in

• the adaptive capacity and diversification of species.
• the role of hybridisation and introgression for the evolution of species with dominant haploid life cycle
• phylogeny, systematics and taxonomy of bryophytes (especially Grimmiaceae and Orthotrichaceae)
• the impact of climate and land use changes on species richness patterns, genetic diversity and biogeography
• threats to biodiversity and strategies to mitigate biodiversity loss
• mountain ecosystems
