In the field of Ethnobotany, I found the ideal connection between my research interests. With a Bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology, Environmental Sciences, and Linguistics, I see interdisciplinarity as the way forward —not only for myself, but for society and the environment we live in. In my Master thesis in Environmental Science, I study the chemodiversity of linguistically unique medicinal plants used by the Tikuna indigenous group in the Amazon, exploring a potential link between their linguistic and chemical uniqueness. Understanding this connection is important, as the decline of the threatened Tikuna language can affect the entire system of the culture’s medicinal knowledge and phytochemical space.
